Sept 15-17 ~ International Conference on Biodiversity and Climate Change PDF Print E-mail

This year is the International Year of Biodiversity, and ACC is proud to play a significant role in creating and hosting an international conference on biodiversity and climate change in Kenya this September. Kenya has a wealth of biodiversity vital to human well-being as well as planetary health. Despite the value of Kenyan biodiversity, we recognize that we have yet to inventory all species  or develop a national biodiversity framework that takes into account projected changes in land use and climate. 

Together with Kenya Wildlife Service, National Museums of Kenya, Department of Remote Sensing and Resource Surveys, Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development and Kenya Forest Service, ACC will host a conference as Kenya’s contribution to the International Year of Biodiversity titled: Kenya’s International Conference on Biodiversity and Climate Change - 15th to 17th September 2010.  See details here.

Dr. David Western to be honored with award May 7 PDF Print E-mail

Dr. David Western, a former Kenya Wildlife Service director and the founder the African Conservation Centre in Kenya, will receive the 2010 World Ecology Award from the Harris World Ecology Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

The World Ecology Award is presented to an eminent individual who has raised public awareness about global ecology and made significant contributions to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.

The award will be presented May 7 at a Gala Dinner ceremony at the Harris World Ecology Center in St. Lous.
